Teaching is not something I had initially aspired to but found I am a teacher and motivator by nature. My teaching style is facilitative. I ask a lot of questions and require my students to practice a minimum of 3 examples in front of me for every technique I explain. I have a fun style and enjoy watching the confidence grow in my pupils. The only child that ever lost interest in what I had to say was my own. :)

As a student, I was promoted from hostess to assistant controller of a restaurant within the period of one year and prior to graduation from the community college. I have over 20 years experience working in accounting and the last 12 of those years as the supervisor of the accounting department in roles titled accounting manager and controller. Although drill may be appropriate for some skills, my preference is project or problem based methods that draw on the learner's experiences and interests. I work from students' current skill levels, provide challenging problems, model successful learning skills, encourage students' to express creativity and intuition, and employ formative and normative assessments.
