My comments on tutoring Percussion : Beginners only please

Your music your way. I enjoy and am familiar with many styles of music and would like to help you follow your passion. It's hard work to learn, but music should also be enjoyable and I aim to keep it that way.
I started playing music in 5th grade with the clarinet and school band. I graduated 1st chair in high school band and was playing the guitar in jazz band. I've been playing the guitar for the last 20 years and played in my far share of bands. I graduated from the Madison Media Institute in 1998 with a diploma in sound engineering. I have for children and spent several years when they were young home schooling them.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my high school years I would volunteer to help children through various charities and church. When I attended college I became an Early Childhood Education major and volunteered in preschool and elementary schools. During my Student Teaching in Des Plaines I was in complete control of a Kindergarten classroom and later a 2nd Grade class. After graduating I began working in a daycare where I created activities for children as young as 3 years old and activities and homework help for elementary students as old as 13.
When I am teaching I am very patient and try to organize the lesson or my assistance in steps. I'll have the child read the problem or question, ask what they know about it, see if they understand the question and proceed. I have taught "Introduction to Business & Technology" since March, 2008 and was promoted to teaching two classes online in 8-week cycles as "adjunct professor" in mid-2010. I was promoted to "visiting professor" in 2011, and enjoy working with students who range broadly in ability. My greatest strength is in helping students to believe in their own ability through aspects of mentorship and encouragement. I find that a high quality education is attainable when there is close, effective student-teacher contact.
