A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in teaching according to the curriculum. However, I will also pull in information from other historical and academic sources that will enhance the student's learning experience. I believe in allowing the student to prove their capabilities by allowing them to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. I believe students should take exams but they are not the only way I test students understanding of the material.
As a history major, I have a desire to learn more and teach more about the past. I have learned so much about the present through studying the past. I have written numerous papers and completed projects while in college. These will help me to teach students how to organize, prepare, and excel in history.

I have approximately one year of experience of professional teaching working with a grant funded program at UNCP. With this program was very hands-on and interactive with the students. I worked directly with the professors in the science department.
As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree. As a California Polytechnic State University graduate in psychology and public policy, I have gained thorough knowledge in the liberal arts as well as mathematical subject areas, such as statistics. Throughout my college experience, I tutored classmates in subjects such as statistics, English, science, Spanish, and mathematics. I really enjoy working with students. My teaching philosophy is that all children can learn. I subscribe to the constructivism approach to teaching. This is where students scaffold their own knowledge from other experiences. I believe that if you can get a student interested in something they are more likely to enjoy what they are learning about and are more likely to be successful.
