During my 37 year work career, I participated in the design, construction and operation of various types of energy plants. I graduated Cum Laude from N.C. State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I also obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Duke University while working full time. I was a registered professional engineer in North Carolina for over 20 years while actively practicing engineering. A Little Bit About Me...

Quite simply, people are different. Accordingly, people learn differently. The real skill in teaching any subject is the ability to notice when a student, who for all intents and purposes has the capacity to succeed in a particular subject, but does not seem to be able to achieve such success. My approach to teaching is to listen to the “student”. Do the questions they ask seem to reflect confusion or do they ask no questions which may indicate they are so confused they don’t know what to ask? Flexibility is key, and changing my approach or supplementing it with other methods to assist the student walk away from the class or lesson knowing more and being able to apply that knowledge, is my focus.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects.
