A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently graduated from the University of Delaware and intend to pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry within the next few years. My major was in Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry; I also focused on Theatre, Japanese, French, English, and Biology. I spent two semesters as a Teaching Assistant for General Chemistry and held personal office hours for tutoring regularly. I have worked at a learning center teaching students of all ages. In addition, I tutored various subjects in high school including ESL.
I strive to develop each student's interest in the subject at hand. He or she is far more likely to enjoy learning and retain information this way. I follow a method of individual trial and error supplemented with examples and corrections.

Students must be challenged, not coddled. Students at all levels need to be pushed to find their limits and then move beyond them. Only then can they achieve real growth. We must use education as a tool to educate the next generation not only for employment but also for citizenship. In so doing, we need to take into account historical precedents and objective reality. Our students need more than simply reading comprehension and basic math skills. One of the chief contributions we can make to our students is teaching critical thinking.
