I really starting to help tutor people in high school. I found out that I enjoy helping people with there challenges and watching them succeed. I believe that when teaching or tutoring someone that you find a method that works for that person. That having a teaching template helps as a guide, but if you are not willing to change your method for the student they are never going to be able to retain the information for long term use.

As a graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology and minored in Chemistry, I received an excellent education. Until recently, I worked in a research laboratory at UIUC, studying ecology and evolution. I'm a strong believer in the Gardner's ideas of many different learning styles and types of intelligent. Some students are better audio, tactile, or visual learners. I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to find the best learning style for each student and build on that format through scaffolding.
