Hello. I have been teaching for 23 years and tutoring in Spanish and other subjects for more than 10 years. I have worked both in private and public schools, and I am currently a public high school Spanish and ACT English and Reading teacher. Spanish is one of my top subjects! Studied and received a major in Spanish at Mississippi College. While in school, I studied abroad at a University in Costa Rica. After graduating, I lived abroad in Peru, putting the language to practice at a local orphanage. Upon returning to the united States, I have worked for two years as a Spanish teacher at both a middle school and high-school level.

While studying at MC, I took the opportunity to live and study abroad in Costa Rica, where I learned most of my conversational Spanish. After graduating from Mississippi College with a bachelor's in Spanish and a certificate in TESOL, I lived abroad in Peru working for an orphanage. Upon returning to the States, I worked as an ESL and Spanish teacher at both middle school and high school level. When teaching a language, I believe one should not only have the knowledge of the grammar and syntax, but the skills of communication. Thus, I implement a lot of conversational English and Spanish in my lessons within the classroom and tutoring. Depending on the age level, language acquisition techniques are changed to fit their interest level.

For the last past six years I have enjoyed my students. They never cease to amaze me with all the many things that they can grasp when you try. I was an assistant in JPS. Tutoring was my job. I have also tutored other grades up to fifth. I really enjoy kids and I always wish the best for them. I have also had to be the actual teacher for the remainder of the school year and did grades and end of the school year things due to the teachers' emergency leave.
My motto is simple: In all of your getting, get an understanding. I truly belive that every child can learn. Even a child with a disadvantage still comes with an advantage because they are always getting some help. It also depends on the child also. I grew up in Spain as my parents were career missionaries. From the time I was young, I have enjoyed teaching and have done it whenever I could. In 13, I taught my younger brother to read. All during high school, I tutored students. When I went to college, my part-time job was to be the assistant to the Spanish professor and to teach in the language lab. I taught for many years in schools overseas, in Nicaragua and Spain. In the U.S. I taught Spanish for 2 years in Piney Woods and 3 years at Clinton High School.
