My comments on tutoring Sign Language : I have been using sign language in my profession for 6+ years now

My teaching style is laid back and very interactive. ASL is a social and visual language and should be taught as such.
Hi my name is Krystal and I would love to introduce you to the world of Sign Language! I studied 3 years of ASL in highschool. The last year I took involved tutoring deaf children in elementary school. After high school I worked in a group home where one of the residents. was both deaf and blind. My comments on tutoring Sign Language : I have tutored students in the past tutoring American Sign Language. I have knowledge of Deaf Community and the culture that comes from it. I, myself use American Sign Language due to being hard of hearing. I have found American Sign Language is really easy to learn and use.

I have experience in tutoring students in American Sign Language. I have spent time in the Deaf community, learning the different signs, culture, puns, facial expressions for 14 years. I am hard of hearing and use American Sign Language as well as being able to voice for myself. I have completed several American Sign Language Classes passed with a B or better.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am currently enrolled in the Interpreter Training Program (IPP) at Ohlone College. I am fluent in American Sign Language production as well as linguistics.

I work on an individual bases, and try to meet the needs of each client. If a client is proficient at receptively understanding Sign Language I will work on their production of signs and vice versa.
I recieved top marks in all ASL classes 101 through 104 Upon completion I was accepted into the Ohlone College IPP Program and will be a certified interpreter in 2013. I have extensively studied ASL linguistics and Deaf Culture. Also Deaf History and ASL story telling as well. I have many friends and contacts in the Sacramento Deaf Community and would be happy to introduce any client to this warm, friendly group

For the past 10 years, I have worked in my community, helping to better the lives of children. At age 15, I began mentoring young girls and volunteering for a non-profit organization, counseling developmentally delayed children and at-risk youth. I later went on to become a Behavioral Therapist, educating children with autism. My love for children (and passion for education) was the determining factor in the course of my college career. I attained a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Utah in 2008 (graduating with a cumulative GPA of 3.8). In addition to my Psychology degree, I also hold a certificate in Human Factors Engineering and recently published research in this field.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with all children. I enjoy teaching so much that I do that as a volunteer, in order to spend time in the learning environment. I love to help students with any problems or obtacles that they are facing in their studies and with their current curriculum. I have also helped students prepare for standardized test.
I have been tutoring for almost 12 years at the local community where I am also a Sunday school teacher. I have tutored in Math, Science, Literature and English. My experience involves tutoring students of all ages, from K-12. I have a Bachelors degree in Business Management from San Jose State University.
