Experience: My teaching experiences are diverse! I am a Certified MN Teacher in Health and Physical Education, but have been involved in various other content areas. Using student interests can help direct teaching that improves students’ enjoyment of learning. For instance, when teaching reading to boys I have found that they often like to read more factual reading material about sports, science, history, mechanics, etc. Student interests change as they get older and reading material needs to be age appropriate. Teaching is a wonderful experience! My teaching style is laid-back, I'd say. I like having conversations in order to determine how someone learns. I think people learn best when discussing the material and really think it out before they start creating something. I am different from most teachers in the fact that I have 23 years of teaching experience, spread throughout grades 1-8. This past year I graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College with a Bachelor’s in History and Medieval Studies. I have studied abroad at Oxford University, and in Rome and Romania, and have a lot of experience in writing research reports and essays.
