I have a B.S. in Education from NIU,Illinois. Graduate work at Northridge State,CA. I'm a volunteer tutor at Mary's Place/Sharing and Caring. I've been a Reserve Teacher for the Mpls Public schools specializing in Special Ed. for five and one half years. I'm a history judge every year for History Day. Patient. Positive.Encouraging. Keeping it light. My primary aim would be to build the student's self confidence and image. Encouraging enthusiasm for the subject matter,by making it more receptive,would be an additional desired outcome. I believe in a teaching style that reflects a student's learning style. Whether they learn best by hearing, seeing, or doing it is important to cater to the student. My teaching style works around this philosphy and tends to be a combination of all 3 styles. Although I have recently graduated with a degree in business, I am interested in pursuing a career involving people. My previous employment was a sales position that was very customer-oriented. I also have 3 years of experience helping children by teaching swimming lessons. Assisting my 15-year-old sister with her school work is also a regular activity.

I understand that each student is an individual, and I like to get to know him/her as a person. The more I am able to connect with the student, the more successful we will be in achieving academic success! My teaching style is adaptable to the student.
