My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : It's one thing to read, but it's another thing entirely to understand and retain what you just read. I teach skills that will allow students to absorb information that they read, which helps not only in their daily lives, but in test preparation as well.

I recently obtained my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, where I graduated in the top of my class with a 4.0. While there, I often tutored people in writing and research, as well as serving as a Teaching Assistant for various classes including: Theatre History, Voice for the Actor, and Shakespeare. In addition to my degree in Theatrical Performance, I received a minor in English Literature. I believe that anyone can learn. I approach history as a story (albeit a very detailed one) and languages as a skill set. I don't do rote memorization, but instead emphasize the patterns, causes, and effects of concepts. If you can begin to understand the why and the patterns behind concepts, the material becomes more meaningful and a lot of the need for rote memorization is removed.
