I am a recent college graduate from George Fox University. While attending G.F.U I had the opportunity to work for C.S. Lewis Elementary school in Newberg, Oregon as their Physical Education teacher. I loved working with children, and making my own lesson plans. The school allowed myself to work on my own lesson plans, and teach the children not only fitness but valuable exercise, and nutritional facts. I have also had the opportunity to work as a private tutor overseas in Germany, and Spain. This was an amazing experience, tutoring and learning. As a teacher with the Colorado Department of Corrections for 28 years, I had the opportunity to teach several subjects at several levels. Through my experience I had the opportunity to teach reading at a very fundamental level to adults. I also taught math and English to inmate students studying for their GED. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to teach English as a secondary language to non- English speaking students. In my experience as a musician, I have found that teaching a subject I love can really inspire students to excel. It's necessary to spread our knowledge to others. My specialty is music, but I love to teach in general because kids need good mentors. Each child is different so I use an individualized approach to my teaching styles. We all learn differently whether we are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners.
