Teaching children has been a love of mine all my life. I had some difficulties learning certain things as a child, but through the use of tutoring I myself overcame this and went on to graduate college with one of the most difficult majors. I believe my own struggles with learning have instilled in me compassion, patience and a deeper understanding of how children think and what types of learning styles will best work. I like to break every concept and principle down into its most basic components. An artist breaks down a drawing into its basic shapes, and is able to create what may at first seem like a complex object to draw. Explaining mathematical principles is almost as difficult as learning them, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Teaching in groups and teaching individually both have their advantages and disadvantages. Teaching one-on-one allows the student to have individual attention, while teaching in groups allows more flexibility and allows students to learn concepts from each other. I consider myself able to do both, but one-on-one often works best.
