Economics is one of my top subjects! I have a bachelor in Economics

During my four years of studies, I have been tutoring one on one French to Middle School and college students. In a stress free atmosphere, I was able to help students with their homework as well as teaching them the language using a personalized curriculum. What makes me special is that French is my first language and it's a language that I still used everyday to communicate.

Economics is one of my top subjects! Bachelor's degree in Economics from Bowling Green State University Master's degree in Economics with a specialization in Community and Economic Development at Illinois State University One year's experience as an Economics tutor at BGSU

As a Peace Corps volunteer, I learned to adapt my style to the needs of the student, however I like to allow the student to drive the learning activity as much as possible. I also try to incorporate more concrete experiences into the lesson plan as much as possible, combining theory with practice.
I graduated from Bowling Green State University, primarily having studied Economics, French and Spanish. During this time, I studied abroad in Tours, France, and Xalapa, Mexico. I went on to get a Master's Degree in Applied Economics with a specialization in Community and Economic Development and then volunteered with Peace Corps in Costa Rica where I worked with microfinance institutions, helping them to improve the administration of their businesses.

My comments on tutoring Economics : Have had limited experience teaching.

My method of tutoring is to work with students where they are and add to their skills, to accomplish the final outcome, preferably an "A" or "B." Some students are visual learners and some are informational learners, or some students combine the two. The potential I see in students is what I try to bring out and have them realize they are capable of going a step further, to reach their goal. The importance of education and the students' continuance of same cannot be stressed enough.
I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. In addition, tips were given to enhance test-taking skills in hard-to-Ace subjects ... read more

I believe in making learning fun and relevant for my students. Beginning by learning about the student's baseline comprehension of the subject matter, I then determine the steps which are needed to motivate the student toward the final goal.
My professional background is in marketing, admissions/career services in higher education, and theology. I have taught undergraduate level theology for over two years at a local seminary and am currently working on my doctoral dissertation in Catholic studies. Evaluations from my students have indicated that I am able to break down complex ideas into manageable concepts. I am also very comfortable with international students.

While I earned a degree in both history and group social studies, I feel I am well-versed in other areas. I currently work at a charter school in Detroit as a math paraprofessional with freshmen algebra. I also substitute within the school most recently in a college algebra class, so I am familiar with the upper-levels of math. In addition to these skills, I feel I am a very polished writer in terms of grammar and writing style. The major in history forced me to write a number of papers, including two research papers that tallied more than 25 pages each. Furthermore, I worked with college students as a history and social studies tutor for classes such as American history, European history, micro and macro economics, political science etc.
My teaching style is simple: get the kids involved. Make the subjects relevant to them. While working as a paraprofessional in a Detroit charter ... read more

I have much to offer in the way of diversity of experience and profession in that I have worked in two (2) major industries: finance and currently, education. Within these industries I have had the opportunity to learn policies, procedures and the protocol necessary to enforce them ethically and without liability. From my work in the educational field I have sharpened my organizational skills, attention to detail and my ability to work with speed and accuracy.
My experience has been tutor/volunteer work during my 4 years of college and some post work. I love to teach my students using things that matter to them. Explaining a word problem using candy or food helps student relate to the issue at hand.

I am currently a writing tutor and learning coordinator at the University of Michigan. I help to insure that student athletes receive a fair education while they are on scholarship. I tutor them on a weekly basis in most subjects but I focus primarily on writing and English. I am a very effective writing tutor both for grammar checking, composition, and essay writing. I have a BA in business management from Michigan State University, so I am very proficient in Econ, Math, computer skills and most business oriented courses. I also teach private guitar lessons at a music academy in Plymouth and I have studied, written, recorded, produced and performed music most of my life so that is another area I can be of great help.

I am patient and enjoy working with students that would be classified as difficult. I see that difficulty as being one or two things, they are over achievers and that results in boredom, or they require attention and lack of it results in giving up. I am firm and fair, but always start my classes out with a hopes and fears exercise , where we come together on what expectations we have for one another. We review the contents of that signed document at the conclusion of the course. Each student comes with unique capabilities, I see it as my job to discover that motivation key. I listen and learn , identifying the real obstacles. .

A Little Bit About Me...

It’s important to be able to impart knowledge to the student smoothly and only to answer the asked questions. Too much information can cause a student to “overload”. This can make the student afraid to ask questions in the future or to think that the topic is so difficult. A good tutor will try to simplify things and brief the answers so he keeps the child interested to learn more.
I love teaching math and science to high school students up to early college levels. I have lots of experience and can be flexible in the way I teach based on the student style.

A Little Bit About Me...

I provided tutoring services in high school and college, thus gained much valuable experience. As such, the most popular question I received during university was "Why are you not an engineering major?" Through earning four BBA degrees in various areas of Accounting/Finance/IT in 3 years, I learned my area of excellence lies in logical material: mathematics, physics, programming, music, and others. The only exceptions are my BBA focus (primarily relying on memorization) and English: a well written essay is equivalent to the works of Mozart. Additionally, university was very enjoyable because I was always surrounded by others and sought after because of my ease of understanding and my explanations were easily understood.
My teaching style is very flexible to accommodate different needs and understandings. I first probe to find inadequacies in the student’s knowledge, then pres ... read more

I have worked in education at the community college level for several years. I worked as an English Tutor for four years at Washtenaw Community College before being asked to join the part-time teaching staff. My class load consisted mostly of Composition I and Technical Writing classes; occasionally I would substitute for Literature courses when needed. In addition to my educational experience, I also have corporate experience working as a Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist in companies such as: EDS, GM, and Consumer Energy.
I can’t imagine myself not spending the rest of my life teaching. I have worked both in the educational field and the corporate world and without a doubt I know with whom my heart belongs.
