I have been writing for my whole life, and have a love of the art that is description. Since Mich of humanity's understanding is based on metaphor, description and its subtleties is a key part of any writing process, be it creative or instructional.My favorite form of writing is creative, however I also enjoy writing essays and other pieces based on fact. No matter what form of writing you endeavor to do, getting your point across through description is paramount. I enjoy working with students of all ages, although most of my experience has been with middle school age and older. I use a couple of different techniques to help students understand math, including using visual aides, problem solving techniques, role reversal (where they explain a lesson to me), blackboard/whiteboard work, and games. I believe it's really the responsibility of the tutor to understand the student's learning style and adjust the teaching to fit the learning style.

I completed all course work for a masters of physics at University of Alabama at Birmingham, only lacking the thesis. G.P.A. at the end of the course work was 3.65. Along the way, as I finished the graduate course work (and in order to pay the rent) I did ad-hoc tutoring with a number of undergrad students along with a more formal semester of 'coaching' a class of undergrads in their regular physics class. This entailed going over problems with them, showing them how to correctly formulate solutions. On top of this, I worked, formally, as a graduate teaching assistant for 2 years, and I taught in the Birmingham public schools (high school level) as a physics teacher.
