A Little Bit About Me...

Through my teaching style I emphasize hands-on learning by using manipulatives. I also use modeling and repetition. I believe the best way to learn something is to practice doing it yourself over and over again using various methods. Practice makes permanent! I enjoy incorporating fun and games into education because I believe learning should be fun!
I graduated in December 2013 with a Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. My specializations are in elementary education (prek-6th grade) and all-level special education. I worked in Hale Center ISD for the after school enrichment program at Akin Elementary from August 2012 until the program ended in June 2013. I completed one rotation of student teaching in special education at Hillcrest Elementary and one rotation of student teaching in a 3rd grade classroom at Thunderbird Elementary. A Little Bit About Me...

Experience tutoring math to elementary age children through adults in college. I have earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Mexico, and I am working on completing pre-med requirements at the University of Houston Clear Lake. I have completed 15 credit hours in Biological Sciences with a GPA of 4.0. I also have two years of experience as a community mentor, working with elementary school children.
I enjoy teaching children. I normally have a very relaxed style, but I emphasize setting goals and completing the task at hand. I gain a great deal of personal satisfaction in helping others learn. I believe the most important attributes of a good teacher are, 1. keeping the student's best interest in mind, and 2. maintaining a positive attitude and keeping the learning process interesting for the student.

A Little Bit About Me...

After receiving my degree from the University of Houston, I substituted for a semester. Then, for three years I taught English in South Korea to children raging from five to 19 years of age which helped me to tone my teaching styles.
I am reactive. I adjust to the learning style that the student requires for them to learn efficiently.I am a firm believer that all children learn better through different methods, and this should be utilized for their sake

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a special interest in ESL students, having myself experienced what it is like as a child to be immersed in a foreign culture and school without speaking the language. As an adult, I also understand how critical it is to have strong English communication skills to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace. I had rewarding career in the business world having worked for a top ten Fortune 500 company. I recently made the transition to teaching and work for HISD. I am currently a sub for all grade levels and have +120 hours instruction time in bilingual classrooms and have passed my TeXes EC-4 and ESL supplemental K-12 exams.
I have a holistic approach that goes beyond just helping a person with homework or test prep. I like to combine tutoring and coaching services. 1. Often students hire a tutor after they are falling behind in school. The first goal is to develop a pla ... read more
