I took German for 5 years from 8th grade through senior year. I am a little rusty now, but am capable of basic understanding. I do not have a definitive teaching style. When teaching someone, I usually try to adapt to their learning style, and if they do not have a strategy that works, I help them develop a good learning style and get comfortable with it. I like to think I make learning difficult things more fun and approachable. I absolutely love performing and any aspect of theatre. I love learning and growing in my theatre knowledge and experiences. I have been performing in some way my whole world and love to share my passion with others. I also love English and Shakespeare; obviously these both go hand in hand with theatre!

I am a doctoral candidate finishing up my third year in the Department of French and Italian at The Ohio State University. My major is French, with a specialization in second language acquisition (SLA), and secondary specializations in modern French culture and French cinema. In addition to my studies, I also teach French within the Department. In my five years of experience, I have taught the first four levels of French, in addition to intensive versions that combine two of the levels together. During the summer of 2008, I taught algebra and geometry to 9th- and 10th-graders in the Upward Bound program at Columbus State. Outside of school I have been tutoring for seven years. I have tutored subjects such as math, English, ACT/SAT prep, and creative writing. I recently became involved with interpretation for a high-school student from Haiti for his Ohio Graduate Test (OGT).

I try to devote the day to getting kids interested in learning while covering the topics necessary. I cater to each child's needs and abilities and try to use their strength's to help their weaknesses. For example when teaching foreign language, if a child is not as strong in language as they are in math, I try to use formulas to portray language in a more concrete manner. I enjoy working with children of all ages and find that they enjoy working with me due to the enthusiasm I show them. Since high school I have been aware that I wanted to teach. I am currently pursueing a Masters of Education, and finishing one of my specializations, (French). I have taught for several businesses. I graduated from MIllersville University and spent 34 years teaching high scool classes. During my work on my MA I studied in Passau,W. Gerany,at the Goethe Institut, as part of my MA degree studies. I've also taught night school conversational classes at the local community college and have done both elementary,secondary and college ESL tutoring. I love teaching and sharing the German culture with my students. I try and motivate my students by showing my enthusiasm while presenting the material to them and sharing my personal experiences with them to illustrate that German is not just a language but a country with really nice people.
