I believe in Constructivism, whereby rudimentary skills are continually built upon; a combination of rote learning and discovery-based learning built upon a mastery of previously-learned concepts, plus testing in real-world scenarios to activate within the student the ability to apply learning through analysis and thought coupled with experimentation.
As one who holds a Bachelor's and Master's in the arts, I believe in the power of exploratory learning. However, as one who has spent considerable time working in computers and networking, I value the attainment of hard knowledge.
