Love teaching art to children

The arts teach children to make judgments about their environment without a right or wrong answer, and that there are many ways to look and solve a problems. Art is a way for children to express themselves without words in the literal form or numbers as only measured on standardized tests. Meaning the limit of our language does not limit a child’s cognition. I believe the arts teach children to observe and solve problems from many perspectives. Art enables us to have experiences that no other source does. It should be relaxing, hands on, enjoyable, and also a learning experience. I am a visual person so I like to teach by example. I will usually explain how to do a process, show an example, and then ask the student to repeat. This not only helps them learn the necessary tools and skill, but also gives them the feeling of accomplishment when they can see the actual process live right in front of them.
I graduated from West Virginia University in 2008 with honors receiving my Bachelor's in Fine Arts degree specializing in Graphic Design. Once I have established where he/she needs work, I show the student a different way of looking at the problem(s). I use their motivations to demonstrate the value of learning the subject in which he/she struggles. I show the student different perspectives, diagrams, and use additional resources such as quiz games. I let the student know that he/she is not alone in his/her struggle.
