Stylistically, I am a showman, a questioner, and possessed of a strong desire to reach every one of my students. I try to connect with each student on a friendly and comfortable level so that confidence-building is easy. It is important for me to find ways to evaluate quickly what the student already knows and still needs to know.
I have taught every grade level from Pre-Kindergarten to college in my 30 years in the schools of Connecticut, New York, and Maryland. I was an assistant principal for six years, have taught both academic classroom core subjects and dramatic arts, and have written curriculum for a great variety of settings. Most of my teaching experience is from one to one tutoring. I have tutored over 20 students and always received compliments regarding my reliability, punctuality, style and patience. I have tutored for students with ages raging from 14 to 25 years old and included algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, etc. I worked as an 8th grade math teacher for a Catholic School as well. I lectured algebra and geometry to 3 different groups of 50 to 55 students.
My one to one teaching style is tailored to adapt to the students learning style. However, my experience shows that keeping the student active during the learning process promotes a better learning. I use Microsoft Excel during my lessons. I create formulas, graphs, etc. and the Excel spreadsheet and ask the student to enter the data so that he/she can see how things change with different entries.
