My teaching style is very flexible depending on the student. I select programs which best fits the student, rather than forcing a student into a specific program that I prefer. My expectations are high for each student. When the expectations are set high, students tend to reach to meet these expectations. Thus it "stretches" each child to reach their maximum potential.

Creative, energetic tutor with special needs experience

Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects! The goal of reading is understanding written print. I have spent many years as a Reading Specialist working with small groups on their comprehension. Many were having difficulty in their assessments. Whether in K-2 or preparing for benchmark tests in 3-5, I take comprehension one step at a time. I also plan according to students' interests, which always helps understanding the written print!

I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Wilmington. I taught first and second grades for ten years in the classroom. While teaching, I returned to school to receive my Master's Degree in Reading (k-12) and certification as a Reading Specialist.
