I have studied chemistry and biology throughout my undergraduate career. Classes I have taken and received high grades in include beginning chemistry classes, organic chemistry, beginning biology classes, and cell biology. I just recently graduated from Ball State and am returning in the Fall to begin work on my masters in chemistry. My interest lies in analytical chemistry, which teaches you the various techniques and apparatuses that every chemist should know how to use, as well as real world skills to help a chemist know how to approach a certain problem or situation without the help of a lab manual. I like to work one-on-one with students. I can get a better feel for their learning style and therefore teach for that specific student. I like to teach by relating the subject to real life situations. All students can learn anything, it just sometimes takes a more personal approach before it really clicks. I graduated Cum Laude from Ball State with a double major in Visual Communication and Genetics. Both my parents were teachers and I often tutored my friends. Every child wants to learn, although a more creative design may be needed to find a child's greatest potential. Patience, consideration, and encouraging words are simple tasks to help the self esteem of children in a child's education.
With a degree from Purdue University and continuing on to get a degree in engineering, I am engaged in many areas of science and math. Even at a young age I taught my younger sister basic mathematical and reading skills even before she entered kindergarten; we called it "school". The youngest, my brother, in which we are both diagnosed with ADHD, is amazing. I quickly learned to be patient with him when helping with his homework because I can see the same frustration on his face I had at his age when trying to concentrate on a difficult task.
