Pre-Algebra Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in Frontenac, KS

I recently moved here from California. I have tutored fellow students in high school in Rhode Island, a child, grandchildren, and also tutored folks in California ranging in age from 13-30 in all types of math during the last ten years. Though I do not have a certificate, I plan on getting a temporary certificate in the next few months. I use a variety of methods such as graphically (visual), practice examples (tactile, repetition), repeating the rules/methods (aural) and occasional humor to help things stick!

I am a freshman at Missouri southern. Math is my favorite course hands down. Its not very difficult for me. I would prefer to tutor elementary and junior high students, but will also work with highschool kids too. I am majoring in physical education so this really could help me out in my field. I have never tutored before tho.

I like to work with children of all types. I think that anybody has the capability to learn if they really want to. Everybody learns in a different way and I am willing to work with them any way I can. I am very patient, laid back, and willing to try new ways to help children accomplish their goals. A teacher is their to help them learn and lift their spirits in times of frustration and show them a different approach to the problem. Encouraging the child can make all the difference in the world sometimes when they are about to give up. I believe that the best way for a student to learn is to explain the basics of which subject I am teaching, show a few examples, and then let them discover how to obtain the answers in their own way. It’s very satisfying when I see a student’s mental light click on and their eyes light up in understanding after they figure something out. Positive encouragement is very important too. I have a BA in Creative Writing, which I have put to use not only in my writing but I am a proofreader to several other beginning author’s stories. They rely on me to fix their grammatical, spelling and usage errors so their writing flows more smoothly. In reading books I enjoy teaching others the overall theme, morals and observations that the author was trying to convey. I have developed my love for math and statistical formulas by applying what I learned in math classes to enjoy following sports teams

As an administrator of a school I oversaw the education of children from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. I have eight years experience teaching algebra I, five years teaching business math. I have eleven years experience teaching English grammar from third grade through twelfth grade. I have taught fourth grade for three years, fifth grade for three years and sixth grade for two years. My goal in teaching is to provide the student with the tools to discover and learn new concepts and to apply this knowledge to the learning process. I do not beleive in giving answers, but rather helping the student learn how to find the answers. I am very patient and will go over a concept until it is understood by the student. I enjoy children who are eager to learn, but try to instill a desire to acheive.
