A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of one of the top state schools in New York, I have always believed in the importance of education. I have a BA in art studio, 2 years of biology/chemistry, and Calculus I&II, which has given me a well rounded education. I have also developed a higher level of writing skills through my research papers and laboratory write-ups. My latin classes have given me a better understanding of vocabulary and the derivatives of different languages from latin. The past year I have been studying chemical and physical aspects of my visual arts. I find ways to be diverse in the way I learn.
Teaching and working with children not only educates them but it educates myself in the process. It is my goal that the efforts of students produce more then just good grades. I assess their needs, the way they think, and what ends they may apply what they’re learning so that I may adapt my teaching style. In this way, I can help students engage in the material in such a way that the knowledge that they receive is important and applicable to their lives now or beyond high school. To this end, I have, in the past, used teaching methods designed for different types of intelligences, examples of relevant modern applications, historical examples and stories, and designed new methods for teaching students who do not respond to practiced methods.
