I've been teaching elementary aged students for over twenty years. I'm currently employed as a fulltime fifth grade teacher and absolutely love my field of work. It's my hope to help individuals meet standard in all content areas through an interesting and comprehensive teaching method. Students will receive weekly instruction and discuss/review work or go over questions each week. Two to three hours a week. To be a lifeguard, one must first learn to swim, then learn different techniques, then continue to refine those techniques to build up stamina and speed. The same is true of mathematics. First one learns number sense, then algebra skills, then a deeper understanding through practice, as well as new and more challenging problems. Taking a student from their current knowledge base to a much broader and deeper understanding is what I like most about teaching. Every student is different, so they often take different paths to gain a fuller comprehension. I believe any student can succeed if they are willing to work through this process of gradual learning, connecting new concepts to their current experiences.
