I love to teach whether its for fun or helping.
I am attending school for early childhood degree. Working with children and others have always been apart of me. Throughout school I am always helping and tutoring someone. Teaching someone something that I already know and something they should know or what to know makes me happy. I substitute before and volunteer my time a lot with daycare, Boys and Girls Club, after school programs, and even at church. I have been a counselor in the public schools for the past 16 years, both at the elementary and high school levels. I have tutored students in many subjects; ranging from 3rd grade math to advanced algebra to US History.
I am able to diagnose weak points in the student's knowledge and remedy those weak points so that the student is better able to have a full understanding of the content. I began my work, with youth, in 1983 when I worked with incarcerated youth at the Highland Youth Center in upstate NY. I later taught high school social studies at Mount Vernon, HS in Mount Vernon, NY where I also tutored after school. I eventually traveled to Benin, West Africa where I taught at a local British School and taught and tutored at the American Language Center. I have experience teaching diverse populations.
