A Little Bit About Me...

In 1992 I graduated from Bowling Green State University (BGSU) with a degree in music education, vocal and trumpet emphasis. Since then, I have been employed by Defiance Area Youth for Christ, and it has been my privilege to assist young people to acheieve their fullest potential in every aspect of their lives. During my employment with YFC, I have been allowed to substitute teach in schools throughout Defiance County and have done so over the last ten years. I create a positive atmosphere and help students to be responsible first to themselves and then to their community. I also try to make my students aware of their potiential and guide them in processing information by first understanding the context in which it is used. Then I like to use visuals in my teaching style. I prefer to start with testing of some kind to assess the developmental level of the student.
My teaching experience began with my work with troubled youth in Michigan. I worked with the Fine Arts Team using the arts to teach visually. I also used positive Peer Culture for helping students to deal with their problems. I slso taught history at the school. As a Western Michigan University graduate, I have a strong feeling that education is the foundation that we build upon. Education is of the utmost importance these days with the world forever getting smaller and business continuing to become more global. It is in our best interests to see to it that our children of today build a firm foundation to build upon for our future. With my BS in Aviation Science and Administration, I have taken many science and math courses and written many research papers.
