Following the completion of my degree I had the opportunity to become a baseball coach where I fully utilized my communication skills in my attempt to enlighten the players.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching, but I especially love one on one tutoring. Students I have tutored typically have a much better understanding of the subject they are studying. I approach tutoring as a facilitator of learning, rather than a professor of knowledge. Learning by discovery is a key aspect of my tutoring. I act as more of a guide, steering students in the right direction as they learn. This leads to much more meaningful and applicable learning.
As a recent graduate of Saint John’s University, I possess many skills that make me a great tutor candidate. I began my college career in the Institute of Technology at the University of Minnesota. During my five semesters in the program I was able to study calculus and physics. I am familiar with high school level physics and mathematics up to and including pre-calculus. After five semesters at the University I transferred to St. Cloud State University to study economics. I honed my statistical and grammatical skills by writing research papers there. During my time at St. Cloud State University I tutored at St. Cloud Technical and Community College. For three semesters there I tutored students in math up to pre-calculus (including trigonometry), statistics, economics, and physics.

I hold both a Bachelor's degree in Biology and an MBA in Marketing and Project Management. Since August of 2009 I have been serving as a Math Enrichment Tutor in St. Cloud, MN, through the Minnesota Math Corps program. My focus has been working one-on-one with seventh and eighth graders. I am applying for a second year of service with my current site.
