I love watching and learning from children. I believe that learning is closely related to confidence. I like to take the time to get to know children and understand what they like so that I can better understand how their brain works and how they process information. In understanding what they like, this gives me the ability to let them show me something new. The best way that I retained information in college was to teach someone else what I was studying. As the children learn the new information, I like to have them show me the new information the same way they did their hobby or interest.

I believe that every student should be given more than enough opportunities to succeed in school. Generally speaking, I believe students learn much more efficiently when they have manipulatives to work with. Also, when students are able to relate to the subject matter, and know why it is important to learn it, they grasp and master the skill quickly and easily. My calm and caring manner also facilitates learning and reassures the students that I truly care about them.
Illinois State University is well known for their education program. Graduating from this university has filled me with pride and confidence in my ability to teach. I have served as an instrumental music educator under contract for three years; I have been a substitute teacher in public schools for fifteen years. I have taught all grade levels. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers as a graduate student. I have tutuored many students primarily on musical instruments.
I love teaching and working with all children. Every child is different in their personalities. I am patient, easy going and considerate. My goal is to provide the best education possible. In addition to my music skills, I also have studied accounting at the local community college, and earned an accounting certificate.
