33 years of accounting, bookkeeping, tax, payroll, journal entries, profit and loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow, budgets, fixed assets, depreciation schedules, sales tax, excise tax, and consulting. Worked with industries in wholesale, retailer, and services. I handle companies with cash and accrual base accounting with C & S Corporations, LLC, Partnerships, and sole proprietors. I enjoy problem solving. It means that I must first understand the challenge by asking question to resolve the situation.
I use visual and auditory means to show the proper way to record the transactions then have the student repeat back what I said and enter the data to further enforce the method. After all is said and done, I show them the results from the transactions cause and effect on their books in the profit and loss, balance sheet, general ledger.

I believe that different teaching styles help different students. A method of both lecture and active learning can be effective for the widest range of students. This allows the students to get a brief introduction to the day’s material before they work in groups on questions about the material. I feel that student’s can learn best from each other because they are all at the same level. If a group is unsure of an answer they can always ask the teacher or look it up in a book. My approach to teaching students mathematics is to first ensure they understand the basics. In my experience, students typically have trouble learning new material because they have not mastered the previous material, which is typically a prerequisite to understanding the new material. I believe with enough time spent on the basics, any student can learn more advanced mathematical concepts. Once I feel their understanding of the previous material is strong, I walk them through example problems and then have them solve increasingly difficult problems on their own. However, I am very flexible with my teaching methods; if they have trouble with this model, I am willing to try different things to ensure they are learning.
