I have a BS in business and can tutor in any business related fields. In addition, my original college major was physics. I can and have taught physics, math, (up to differential equations) and physical sciences. I have also been an ameteur astronomer for 40 years and can teach courses in this dicipline. I am currently employed as an airline pilot and have earned all teaching certificates from the FAA. My approach to teaching is more of a "why" approach. It is more important for students to know why something is or works rather than just how. This approach works well for middle and high school students. Making the learning session interactive makes a world of difference in teaching a language, and I find that incorporating play-acting into a learning session excites and motivates the student. Using the list of vocabulary words and rules of grammer the student is currently in the process of learning, I like to create a scenario with the student, stand up and walk away from the table, and pretend that we are actually at the dentist, the grocery store, etc. I also like to use topics that relate to the student's age and environment, thereby make the language 'real' to them. Since graduating from college, I have engaged locally in the areas of insurance and financial services, selling and servicing all available products to a growing customer base. This was accomplished by active communication combined with advanced product knowledge dealing with a range of clients from various ages and backgrounds. After assessing the individual's current knowledge of a particular subject matter, a review of the topic's basic rules would follow. The next procedure would involve passage reading and comprehension followed by implementation by putting "pen to paper". As with all cases of subject matter retention, repetition is the key to memory, closely accompanied by an understanding of the material and need for the application of the writing rules for student advancement.
