Simple Steps. The main key to successful learning.

To be honest I do not have any professional experience tutoring. However, throughout my entire educational career I have always been able to grasp material before my classmates and hence help them grasp the material themselves. I am very patient and am able to break down any subject into very simple and easy to understand steps to ensure the students' success. ACT 32 AP Scholar

My comments on tutoring Anatomy : I teach anatomy at this time to my 4/5 split class. I have studied anatomy for 2 years both in the high school setting as well as the college setting and dance setting.

I have been working with the school system for several years. I am currently teaching a fourth/fifth grade split. I am very experienced in working with children who are at risk, special needs, and add/adhd. I have a proven track record of student growth in core subjects of 1 year 3 months. I enjoy tutoring and teaching and I work a great deal with parents in order to keep the educational goals on the same page for their child. I have experience in both the world of sociology and psychology. I am able to adapt to behavioral issues that plague some children. I work hard to really get to know the student and help them calm themselves if they should have test anxiety etc. Every child is unique and all children have to be taught in the way in which they can truly learn. I always teach with different styles due to my experience working in China, Ohio, and other areas.

Anatomy is one of my top subjects! I am an Expert and can teach at any level including students od medicine

My philosophy of teaching essentially revolves around the following areas of focus 1. Identify principles of adult learning so I may assess the learners' needs 2. Design an educational intervention and establish student-centered learning environment 3. Employ venue-specific teaching skills for ambulatory teaching, bed-side teaching, large-group presentations, Small group/case-based teaching and where it is available and possible Simulator-based teaching 4. Recognize effective learner assessment strategies and learn to provide meaningful feedback so they may set educational expectations and at the same time create an action plan for the "problem" learner 5. Help learners advance in their careers where it is possible and feasible 6. Foster critical thinking skills so they may effectively use questions to promote critical decision making 7. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a tutor and mentor for a fifth grade child in Delaware, Ohio via the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. I have gained a tremendous amount of experience working with this student in and out of the classroom, and it has allowed me to develop my teaching skills in all areas of curricula. I tutor my student in each and every one of her subjects. I also informally tutor some of my peers at Ohio Wesleyan University, particularly in Science classes, in which I am most experienced.
I am a very interactive teacher. I find it helpful for the students I work with if I am able to relate a lesson to something else with which they are familiar. I like to use tangible learning tools and hands on methods, allowing the student to get the most experience possible with a lesson in order to really grasp and have deep understanding of the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

Because I enjoy the learning environment and have been in one for 16 years, I have learned much about it. Everyone learns differently, and I feel that it is important to understand the student's easiest way to learn in order to proceed. I believe offering students the chance to use their imagination and to encourage creativity is the best approach to education. Whether it is through mental imaging or hands-on learning, each individual student deserves a chance at better education.
I am a recent college graduate and I am looking for employment within my field. I have two years experience tutoring an elementary student. I worked with a student in second grade and tutored her in both Math and English. Because her mother and I communicated regularly, she was able to tell me of improvements and areas of subjects that needed more attention. I am very enthusiastic about being able to w ... read more

I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. I enjoy teaching and couldn't see myself doing much else.
While attaining my genetics degree at Ohio State, I worked at the OSU Chimpanzee Center. After graduating, I started working for the Department of Agriculture in the Weights and Measures division. It was my job ... read more

One of my greatest joys is teaching!!! I prefer to work with high school aged teens, college aged adults and adults of all ages. I excel in one-on-one and small group teaching environments and am a patient, considerate tutor. Communication, interaction, collaboration, participation, and respect are all critical elements in teaching and tutoring. Years of daily dialogue has allowed me to become an accomplished communicator with the ability to engage my listeners, deliver difficult concepts in an understandable manner, and bridge the crucial gap between lecturing and stimulating the active participation of the student. I know how important a tutor can be in helping a student learn challenging material and the difference you can make in that person's life and future is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

A Little Bit About Me...

Without a doubt I am an excellent candidate for this position based on my teaching style, my life experience, my education, my enthusiasm and my love for science and life-long learning. Not only do I have the advantage of being raised in central Ohio, I have the added benefit of being educated across these United States and I bring these experiences into the classroom in order to authenticate my lesson plans. I feel that science is the key to a student’s interest in the world around them and any student can become excited about their surrounds if the right stimulus is applied.
After returning to Ohio Dominican University to complete my certification to teach science, I was a long term substitute teacher and tutor in several central Ohio school districts. I am a graduate of Fisk University with a BA in Chemistry. For most of my adult life I have worked as a Chemist. I have received awards and compliments from my employers for my attention to detail. Being a scientist has been very rewarding, and I would like to pass on my enthusiasm for science to young people. I tutored general chemistry when I was in college. Spending about a year and a half as a substitute teacher in the Columbus Public Schools has provided me with valuable experience.
I love the learning process and teaching children. With patience and care every child has the potential to learn whatever they set their minds to learn. Showing children how to visualize abstract concepts like science is very rewarding. It is a wonderful feeling as a teacher when they reach that "AHA" moment. My process is very simple: 1) present the information to the student , 2) ask the student ... read more

No two students learn best in only one way. So too, I believe in a multitude of teaching/tutoring styles which employ a variety of approaches such as kinesthetic, didactic, verbal, reinforcing, repetition and modeling approaches. Within the first and second sessions I ask the student how they best like to learn and what ways make the most sense to them. Learning with and through working with a tutor is a two way communication process. I pride myself on being very perceptive and am a good listener. Let's talk about YOUR needs.
As a former high school valedictorian I know the value of hard work. During my undergraduate studies at OSU I was trained by Americorps to tutor elementary students in reading and math. I worked for two years in the Columbus Public School System helping students that were behind their grade level in those subject areas. In my current high school position I teach a Career Based Intervention class and I assist students with their English, Science, Math and History lessons. Over the course of pursing my own education, bachelors and masters, I have acquired skills in grammer and punctuation due to the accuracy that was required for my journalism assignments and research papers.

Graduating from a liberal arts univeristy with a Bachelor's degree in Biology along with a minor in Chemistry has provided for me an incredibly well rounded educational experience. I have a solid understanding of the the natural sciences along with comprehensive lab experience in anatomy, physiology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, along with other disciplines. As a Junior and Senior I found it very rewarding to help the younger students grasp biochemical concepts.
Since I find Biochemical processes so exciting, it is easy for me to get other students excited about them as well. Many students feel that the sciences are boring and dull. However, when I explain the processes to the students in their own terms instead of the textbooks they begin to realize that it can be fun! The first step to getting a student to understand the natural sciences is to spark some interest. This ... read more

I have tutored students in high school, undergraduate, and graduate school for three years. I have a BS in Biology, professional experience in public health, and an MS in Biomedical Science. My work in clinical research and laboratory research gives me extensive experience in writing papers and reports. Additionally, I am fluent in Thai and Laotian.
I was drawn to tutoring because I once benefited from one. I came to the U.S. when I was five years old and had a difficult time understanding many topics, especially the sciences. With the help of a tutor, I eventually gained the confidence to overcome these obstacles. Students learn in many ways and I believe repetition and application is the best way to solve many scientific problems. Therefore, my ultimate goal for each student is to develop a firm foundation and teach me what they have learned. Tutoring is not limited to those who ... read more
