Sometimes a student will get frustrated with me because of that, but I’m committed to teaching how to fish and not just handing out fish. For example, with a mathematical problem, I may throw out additional problems revolving around the same principle at hand to make sure the student really understands as opposed to just getting past one question. From second semester freshman year I have tutored mathematics and chemistry. First it was at the campus learning center at Westminster College, then I went on to pursue a graduate degree in chemistry at Penn State University where I found that I like to teach more than I wanted to be a PhD Chemist, I was a teaching assistant for both Physical Chemistry Lab and General Chemistry for non-majors.
