I have taught classes on aviation related subjects for my Civil Air Patrol. I was homeschooled all the way to the college level, and I remember a lot of subjects in great detail. I worked at Kent State in the writing center tutoring writing while in college. I also worked as a teacher's assistant for Canton City Schools from January 2005 until May 2007. I have been a substitute teacher since January 2008. I teach language arts and elementary math in elementary school. In high school I generally substitute teach in various subjects. My approach to tutoring is to try to be as hands-off as possible. By this I mean that I will not "fix" papers, nor will I write directly on a student's paper if it can be helped. I want to help the student in their problem areas by showing them examples of an area (thesis statement, grammar, citations)that needs improvement and then working with them so that they will know how to address the problem in the future.
