I thoroughly enjoy working and education children. Whether it is on the basketball court or in the classroom, teaching children how to succeed and learn has always been a passion of mine. While each student has his or her own way of learning new material, there are several components of teaching that can aide in this process. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Physical Science from California State University, Fresno. I received my first teaching experience as a substitute teacher. I next worked as a long-term substitute teacher for a year. I was then offered a full-time, permanent teaching position as a fourth grade elementary school teacher. This position lasted three years. I will never forget the joy I received each time one of my students learned something that they had been struggling with for some time. When that proverbial light bulb came on and you could see the exact “aha” moment twinkle in their eyes, it made teaching the most rewarding career that I have known thus far.

A Little Bit About Me...

After receiving my B.S. in Ecology and Systematic Biology with honors, I have worked as a wildlife biologist. My knowledge of science and solid writing skills have allowed me to successfully conduct award-winning biological studies and author technical reports. I taught several biology courses as part-time faculty of the Biological Sciences Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo while pursuing a graduate degree there. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed helping people learn, from dancing and sailing in my youth, to English and French more recently. For two years I was a tutor at a resource center at a city college, where I helped students on a one on one basis with reading and writing skills. I have tutored privately a number of clients in French, and I currently teach a French class at an after care program.
I love helping children learn in a way that's fun and supportive. I strongly engage my students in the process by asking questions and balancing the different learning styles (auditory, written, verbal, physical).
