Praxis Exam is one of my top subjects! In 2006, I began scoring constructed responses on the PRAXIS exam for one of the nation's leading test administrators. My specialization in scoring is for the special education test for the Education of Exceptional Students (Learning Disabilities). Having this experience in the essay components of the test (which accounts for 50% of the test score) gives me an insiders knowledge of what you can do to maximize the effectiveness of your responses.

I have taught Special Education in the public school system for over 13 years. This exposure to the needs of students and the strategies that play such an important part in helping students succeed led me to eventually begin scoring PRAXIS tests. After 3 years of scoring, I was offered a position as a scoring facilitator who introduced constructed response questions, discussed rubric requirements, and monitored the scores given by groups of 10-14 scorers assigned to each question.
I am easygoing and friendly, and never judgemental. I will focus on what you feel is your weakest link or help you determine where your needs are. We will discuss the scoring rubric used on the constructed responses, examine examples of potential scenarios, and review responses and how they would have scored and why.

I believe that a solid and rounded education is the foundation for any society and that education begins with an individual. This belief drives my number objective: to teach to the student. For me, it means recognizing the unique abilities and personalities of each student to properly develop and manage a learning strategy for them in order to make measurable gains. I only compare a student against his or her own self so that they realize the only measure that matters is their personal improvement.
My tutoring career began as an honors research student in college. I shared my skills and passion for French and history in plain and easy to grasp concepts that even helped "non-language" types to succeed. I absolutely love what I do and I know this is what I was meant to do. I have the ability to break down abstract concepts into concrete ones that adolescents can understand. My teaching style involves a lot of questioning on my part to the student so I can get a full understanding of any misconceptions they may have and if at all possible I use this technique to help them arrive and the correct answers on their own. This ensures their full understanding and retention of the material. Along with questioning I provide scaffolding to help the students reach their goals. Enduring understanding of the material is the ultimate goal with the students as the focus.

Education serves many purposes, but its most important function is to prepare students for life. Students must be able to use the knowledge they gain in schools to improve themselves and their future. Courses should teach students information that will directly benefit them. It' ... read more
