Poetry is one of my top subjects!

Every since I was little, I realized that I wanted to help others. I taught a bunch of young female children about field hockey. I have tutored my cousins in all of the areas listed and it helped them with their studies and their education. While I tutor, I like to have music playing in the background softly. I am available during the academic school semesters and the rest of the remaining summertime. I do have a full time job, and the only time that I am available now would be after 1 pm to about 6 pm throughout the week and weekend.
I am more of a hands on,and mainly a lot of visuals as well as worksheets. Sometimes I use music, artists, sports and current events as a reference.

I believe that you must approach education by meeting the student where he or she is rather having the student conform to your style. Therefore I embrace an eclectic style. Each student will present with some king of dominant learning style. They will be primarily visual, auditory, conceptual or experiential. It is my job to discover that style in the teaching process and direct my approach to that student.
I taught with the Bangor adult education program in the early 1980's as a graduate student in educational psychology. My experience suggests that students must participate to fully benefit from the teaching and learning experience. This implies that they must be interested in the subject. Therefore it is, in part, the teacher's role to engage the students and guide them in a manner that engenders their interest. Beyond this I have found that students respond best when their strengths are recognized and their efforts rewarded. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that each student learns in their own unique fashion. When I work one on one with a student, I first talk with them (and look at previous writing samples) to try and determine how best to tutor them. Some students benefit if I hide their papers and ask them to talk their way through the main points and arguments of their essays (and then compare and contrast what they said to me to their actual arguments in their paper to see if information has been left out or if there is excess information), and others benefit from reading their paper out loud to catch errors or awkward phrasing.
