In my opinion my teaching would have to be considered unique. Usually I teach math in laymans terms and use analogie that students can relate to. Once the student understands the concepts I can then express the same ideas in the more rigorous mathematical terms. I also teach so that the student becomes active in his or her learning experience. I try to help the student to realize that math is not as difficult as it is made out to be. Over the course of my tutoring career I have employed a strategy of helping the student to understand more of the mechanics of mathematics and depend less on shortcuts that do not foster learning or, even worse, do not work. I have loved to teach every since I was a young girl playing school with my younger siblings. Since that time I have observed several different teaching and learning styles.
