My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I have taught creative writing in the classroom for 5 years.

I prefer the Socratic method of asking/answering questions and discussion, but I am more than capable of diverting to a more lecture style of teaching if that is what works with the student. I tailor my teaching style to the strengths of the student.

Phonics and help for dyslexic students

Hands-on, creative, active, using senses to keep children involved, especially those with ADHD. Trained in the Orton-Gillingham method to use explicit, sequential, systematic, and comprehensive phonics, especially for children or adults with dyslexia.
While homeschooling my boys, I invented new ways to teach them to read. These methods turned out to be helpful to many students. I've taught children how to read for about 5 years. I wrote a series of books to give teachers methods to teach phonics in creative ways, published through Creative Teaching Press. I've published mountains of curriculum. Formerly, I was the editor for the weekly education section for the "Denver Post." After high school I achieved a BS from George Peabody College for teacher, however did not teach for money until many years later after I received my MS. My work in clinical psychology has been mostly with children, the severely mentally ill, and abuse cases.
