My comments on tutoring Drawing : Currently a middle school art teacher

I'm an experienced graphic artist. I graduated from OSU in 2006 and still design for several clients. I was the only in-house graphic designer for America's Incredible Pizza Company. The operations office was located here in Tulsa; it closed in 2010 but continued to work for the company from home. I also held a position with Bullseye Database Marketing which designs primarily bank letters and stationary. The work from both companies was widely contrasted, so I feel that I have a wide range of experience in the design world. Very familiar with the printing process and how that system works after you've designed a piece. Very helpful to know before you start designing a piece so that you can keep production in mind. After receiving a BS in Education from Illinois State University in 1997, I began teaching all subjects in grades K - 8 in the greater Chicago area over the course of 6 years (Fall 1998 - Spring 2005). After relocating to Delaware in 2005 I began full time substitute teaching in public schools, juvenile detention / rehabilitation facilities and part time tutoring (after school). My passion is working with children of all ages. I believe all children can learn and it depends on how you approach their learning. If a child is not learning, I need to re-evaluate how I go about teaching. I am very patient and have an outgoing personality. I believe that you must teach to the whole child before true learning can happen.
I have been a classroom teacher for 9 years. All 10 of my years out of school have been in the education field. My first year out of college I taught at an unaccredited private school, and then at an accredited day care center. The next 7 years were at a public school. I believe teaching is about learning instead of the outcome. I practice "learning by doing" where they create their own style and way of accomplishing the task based on age appropriate methods and ways that work for them.
