A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelors in English from Dominican University. I began A Plus Master Tutoring Center over 4 years ago and was teaching in my home. Now we have expanded to a center in Oak Park and we tutor all ages, from Pre-K to adults. Our subjects range from phonics to algebra. Our teaching styles vary from a 3:1 ratio, which would include up to three students and one tutor, or a 1:1 ratio which would be a private session with a student and a tutor. Session prices range from $25-$27 depending on the type of session. We pride ourselves in being an affordable tutoring center compared with the prices of Huntington and Sylvan learning centers. In terms of my work experience I have done Response to Intervention (RtI) in which I would plan, implement and analyze reading and writing interventions as a means to get those struggling students at grade level or beyond. I have also substitute taught all subjects at all grade levels in various districts. A Little Bit About Me...

I basically teach according to what the students like or is familiar with (art, sport, etc.) and I utilize what they're good at with the subject matter. For instance, if a student is into baseball, I teach math using scoring method, countries where players are from for social studies, speed of running, throwing, etc. for teaching science, and so on. With the younger students, I oberve them during choice time or free play and document what areas they are attracted to the most, how they interact with each other and their conversations.
