It is my experience that an instructor delivers more learning when a student has an interest in the subject. "Inspire rather than require," has far greater efficacy in delivering information. I tend to make it fun, interesting and encourage student participation and feedback. Reward, a basic human desire, engenders craving for learning. When I was a student teacher, the "fault" my teaching supervisor found in me was that of doing "too much individiuaized and small group teaching" in my combined classroom of 1st and 2nd graders. He didn't think I could keep it up but I did and with good results. Helping a student to "make the connection", to "get it", to accomplish what he needs educationally is so important because sucess leads to more sucess.
