Since 1991, I have been tutoring and teaching children in Florida, California and Costa Rica. In addition to being a tutor, I have worked with children in many capacities from after-school program coordinator to curriculum writer and summer camp counselor and instructor. I earned my BA degree from Florida A&M University in Visual Arts and History and my Master's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in Dance Ethnography. Instructing my own ten year old daughter has also further enhanced my ability to work one-on-one with individual students. A Little Bit About Me...

While earning my degree in English, I developed teaching and communication skills through both curricular and extra-curricular experiences. As an intended Secondary Education minor, I took many classes in education, including a middle and high school practicum. I also tutored students in grammar and composition, as well as foreign students in conversational English. I strongly considered teaching as a profession after graduation, but I wanted to earn my law degree first. While studying for the LSAT, I took an online course, mastering test-taking skills in all three parts: logic “games,” analytical reasoning, and reading comprehension. Graduating summa cum laude from the University of Florida, with extensive work in research, analysis, and writing, these skills came easy to me. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that students learn best from teaching and therefore owning the material. This means that whenever I teach, I first explain the concept, then model my thought process of solving the problem, and then I have the student teach the material back to me. By teaching in this style, this allows the student the create his or her own understanding of the subject and retain it in the long run.
