I must admit that my experience with teaching is limited, however I love to sit down with groups of children and help them to discover new concepts and ways to learn the subject matter. I taught five year olds for two years in Sunday School. Every week was a challenge to help them to pay attention and listen well. Fortunately, through a great deal of patience, perseverance, and consideration for the children I was able to make learning about the scriptures fun. It truly amazed me how much they had learned through the year. Of course, much of the credit should go to their parents, I got them involved as much as possible.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like the tutoring environment because I like seeing individual progress. It is easier to assess where the child is. I believe that the basics are essential to moving forward in education. Memorization of math facts makes it easier for a child to learn new material because he isn't bogged down. I don't believe enough emphasis is placed on arithmetic in today's schools. Basic arithmetic skills make story problems easier. Types of story problems need to be practiced, not just thrown in at the end of a chapter without much information on how to do it. I am patient and punctual. I like being with students.

I believe in helping someone develop the answers that are correct and in giving them guidance to achieve the correct answers, but not just offering the answers. I will work with them in reading or researching the question and applying the theory to determine the answers before I just offer the answer. If an answer is provided by me on one question, it is the students responsibility to apply the information give to solve a similar problem and validate the theory is learned.
