I love helping people, particularly children, reach their full potential by becoming life-long learners. Whenever I meet with a student, whether it be one-on-oe or in the classroom, I strive to identify his/her learning style and to create a connection to the lesson to his/her future experiences in the world beyond the classroom. I believe that education is the key to creating citizens with a sense of self-efficacy and a belief that one man or woman can make a differnce.
While earning my MA in English, I spent two years tutoring students in English and training/mentoring other tutors. For the last two years, I have been designing and delivering trianing curriculum. Due to family issues, I dropped out at in the 9th grade but due to extensive reading most of my life on many subjects, and being gifted intellectually, thank God, I was enrolled in college at the age of 16. I started out doing nanny work in college. After graduating in 1998, I moved to Detroit, Michigan to pursue a career in language studies. I became the Language Training Director for a language services company. I supervised a teaching staff of 150 instructors who gave language instruction to businessmen and women who were relocating for business purposes. We gave instruction in language and culture, while providing relocation help to families who were settling in the US.
