I worked as in house counsel for seven and a half years in Fidelity National Financial’s Chicago claims department, handling title insurance claims generated by property in multiple states of the country. For the last four of those years, I was in a supervisory position with respect to the other members of my “team.” My primary job responsibilities have included coverage determination of title insurance claims and management of outside counsel. I reviewed policies and applicable law and provided guidance to other claims administrators in the department as to their handling of claims. In addition, my time with FNF allowed me to greatly improve upon and polish my skills in communication, negotiation, teaching, and management. In 1992 I graduated from Bowling Green State University (BGSU) with a degree in music education, vocal and trumpet emphasis. Since then, I have been employed by Defiance Area Youth for Christ, and it has been my privilege to assist young people to acheieve their fullest potential in every aspect of their lives. During my employment with YFC, I have been allowed to substitute teach in schools throughout Defiance County and have done so over the last ten years. Through my years spent as a sub, along with a very good college experience covering a vast array of subjects, I am competent to assist young people in areas of English, Math, History, Social Studies, certain fields of Science, Creative Arts, and in any aspect of Music. I enjoy watching children learn and grow. I believe there are different teaching techniques for each individual student. I have come to learn this because of my younger sibling who didn't fit into the mold of a typical public school student. I am a firm believer in trying new things and new approaches. As a Bowling Green State University student who has studied Communication Disorders I have come across many experiences with children. Communication Disorders not only includes speech, but language as well. I have gained knowledge about how children read and write and why some children may have problems with this. During my last semester of college I observed 25 hours of speech and language therpay which involved watching both adults and children. This year I will be graduating with a 3.0 in my major. I enjoy adapting my personal teaching style to each individual specifically. I believe each child learns differently and I am very persistent in finding the right learning method for each child to make sure they fully comprehend the material. I am very patient, kind, and also a good listener. I believe these qualities are important in relating with the student to achieve a high level of learning.
