Accounting is one of my top subjects! I am an Accounting student at FGCU who will be entering the master's program in the Fall of 2013. I currently hold a 3.95 GPA and am tutoring Intermediate 3 accounting, Accounting Information Systems and Managerial Accounting. I love teaching and helping my fellow students understand the concepts from a real world perspective. I explain that accounting is just another language you have to learn and understand. I am a creative person and bring life to the topic with my own notes and the occasional poster board example. I also hold a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in English that I received in 2004. I hope to enter a PhD program in Florida and eventually become an Accounting professor.

I am a creative person and love to bring that creativity into the tutoring session. I create my own notes to explain the textbook concepts and my own problems that are similar to what the student will be tested on. I like to use index cards, poster board, and whatever else will help bring the concepts to life for the student. My explanations change depending on what life experience the student has. A person who has been in the business community for twenty years will have a different perspective than a nineteen year old who has never worked. The purpose of tutoring is to use what the student knows to help explain the concepts.

I have over 20 years experience as a Certified Public Accountant. In addition to that time I have over 10 years with a hedge trading options. I also have a couple of years experience teaching basic accounting and tax courses as an Associate Professor at Longview Community College in the Kansas City area.
I use the basic visual and auditory but the vast majority I use is "Learn by Doing". A hands on approach by the student creates a much higher retention rate in my experience.
