A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a very visual and verbal person. I like to explain things by writing/drawing them out, saying them out loud and creating analogies between things to help students better understand a concept. I believe the comparison between a concept and something the student can relate to allows for the student to comprehend what is being taught.

I worked as a Summer swim instructor for children ages 3-12, at the New Mexico State University Aquatic Center. Instructors had the option of focusing on one learning level, or multiple. I had the opportunity to teach not only all the different age levels, but I also worked with the children participating in the summer camp NMSU provided to for kids ages pre-k through High School. I've worked numerous jobs, none of which were fulfilling except the ones where I worked with children, particularly students who were troubled or had learning disabilities. I was a theatre major in college, so you might be quick to think I was a flake or someone who just coasted by through college, but I graduated with a 3.7 GPA, receiving some of my best scores in Logic and History, but my favorite subject was Shakespearean literature.
