I have been a private tutor for the past two years. In that time I helped a student who had dropped out of high school learn all of the necessary skills required to excel at the new GED test. He achieved honors on the Math and Science portions and scored very well on the Reasoning through the Language Arts and Social Studies sections. In October I helped him study for his ACT. He scored a 23 on the ACT and with his GED-High School Equivalent GPA of 4.0 he was accepted to New Mexico State University and plans to obtain a Masters in International Relations.

I have 6 years of tutoring experience and other programs under which I tutored include the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and JROTC.
My teaching style generally varies based on who I am tutoring/teaching. I generally treat my students as adults and under the assumption that they will go to college. My teaching style is very flexible. Because I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults, the ability to adapt to the learner's ability level is especially important. Not all people learn at the exact pact, therefore, flexibility is essential as well as non traditional teaching methods. Teaching on a one-to-one basis is the most personal and rewarding experience that a teacher may have. Part of the reason for this dynamic between the teacher and the student is because a student can learn many times over when it becomes a one-to-one basis. Of course, if a student is predisposed towards a particular learning style that is effective then it must be utilized. Reward and knowledge must be a constant. A Little Bit About Me...

I've worked numerous jobs, none of which were fulfilling except the ones where I worked with children, particularly students who were troubled or had learning disabilities. I was a theatre major in college, so you might be quick to think I was a flake or someone who just coasted by through college, but I graduated with a 3.7 GPA, receiving some of my best scores in Logic and History, but my favorite subject was Shakespearean literature.
