I have taught many different students from all types of backgrounds, from gifted to learning disabled. The reason I have success with these students is because I make learning fun and relevant. I develop creative tools that are of interest to that particular student, while cultivating a great deal of empathy. This is based on getting to know the family the child is a member of. By understanding the lifestyle,demographics and cultural nuances, I can determine any problems that may deter from learning, and any strengths which can be built upon. Currently, I work for the Saratoga Springs and Ballston Spa school districts as a home instructor for grades 6 to 12. I enjoy working with the kids one on one and feel wonderful about helping them stay up to date with their school work until they are physically able to return to the regular classroom setting. Aside from home instruction, I also work regularly as a substitute for Saratoga County schools, and have built up a great working relationship with all faculty and students in each building that I am assigned. Prior to working for Saratoga Springs, I taught 1st grade for two years at PS 325 which is located in Manhattan. A Little Bit About Me...

Growing up I dealt with dyslexia. I understand that each and every kid has a different learning style and not one style is better then the rest. My goal is to make learning as much fun as possible by pin-pointing the learning style of the student and finding ways to make learning more interesting. My most important goal is to teach children that everyone has the skills to excel and that learning can be fun. More importantly, I want children to understand that though their learning style may be different from his/her classmates it does not make them any less smart.
Last May I graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in history. My passion for history has been driven by my voracious appetite for knowledge.
